This still life refers to topological knot theory - is it, or is it not a knot? The Trefoil Knot also has the property of being a Mobius Strip. This topology was first proposed by August Mobius in the 19th Century, and is easily constructed by taking a paper strip, giving it a half twist, and then joining the ends of the strip together to form a loop.
